Torensteeg / Oude Leliestraat (Singel), 1012 Amsterdam - Binnenstad - Nieuwe Zijde, ,
The Torensluis does appear to be a somewhat exaggerated bridge crossing the Singel. The reason for this spacious set-up is the Jan Roodenpoortstoren which stood here until 1829.
The dungeons of the tower have in recent years been restored and made accessible to the public, and nowadays exhibitions and events are held here too. The contours of the tower foundations can be detected in the bridge paving.
