Bellver de Cerdanya is a town in the comarca of Cerdanya, province of Lleida, Catalonia. It's founded in 1225 by Nuno Sancho on the hill Bello vedere (which derives its current name). In 1277 King James II of Mallorca gave the order to lift the walls. Its location was strategic, in the border county of Cerdanya and Urgell County, next to the road (now Camino de Santiago).
