The most popular place of pilgrimage in Woluwe Saint Lambert in earlier times was the shrine of Marie la Misérable, or Lenneke Mare. Somewhere around 1300 there lived a young girl Marie, rather than marrying she chose to retire to a hermitage, where she constantly prayed to the Virgin. Our Lady of Seven Sorrows was built time after 1300 in Brabant Gothic style.
