The museum is housed in the Meat House, a Gothic halle from the 15th century. The history of the archaeological museum dates back to the 2nd half of the 19th century when the City Government already had gathered an important collection of medals and Antiquities. In the current museum are objects and documents filed over the history of the city and the former country of Dendermonde.
