Kasterlee is known as the pumpkin village and the inhabitants are called « pompoenpapeters » (i.e. pumpkin mash eaters). Every year during the month of October, Kasterlee is under the spell of this huge orange fruit. There are pumpkins and pumpkin events all over the village.
