It was not until the second half of the 19th century were archaeological finds from the Meuse Valley, by experts from Brussels and Liège, systematically registered. The archeological research included now also vorwerpen that were found in investigations related to conversions of apartments and houses in Maaseik, and also in large-scale projects.
