The 1450 km² Parc Naturel Régional des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin has waterways, marshes, moors and hedgerows. Four major rivers feeding the marshes: From east to west, the Aure, the Vire, the Taute and the Douve. The Cotentin marshes have been built in the sixteenth century under the leadership of Marshal Bellefonds.
