ÉTANGS DE LONG (Somme)

Long is a commune in the Somme department. Places of interests are the church of St. Jean-Baptiste, the hydro-electric plant and the castle of Long. The 18th century castle, in pink brick and white stone, with a mansart roof, was built on the site of an earlier medieval castle. During the Second World War, the building was badly damaged by occupying troops. Lovingly restored during the 1960s, the building is now open to the public.
