Playing with abstract patterns, a jarring, irregular roof, geometric forms and light - Manuelle Gautrand, one of France’s leading architects, has designed a truly captivating extension for Lille’s Museum of Modern Art, recently rebranded as ‘LaM’. Housing the museum’s comprehensive collection of ‘Art Brut’ the delicate patterns of the asymmetrical façade create a beautiful spectacle from the exterior in low light, whilst during daylight hours the shapes cast alluring shadows into the gallery space.
