Gaalgebierg is a hill near Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) where iron ore was once extracted. Here are several places in the old mines collapsed, which is visible on the mountain as deep holes in the forest. That the soil contains much iron is shown by the red color (rust). Today it's is a natural park with many sports facilities, a campground, a wildlife park and a walking area.
