Historic City Canals Area

GRIMBURGWAL

The Grimburgwal is a small canal and street in central Amsterdam. Until 1425, the canal was the southern boundary of the city and now serves as the southern border of "The Wallen". The Grimburgwal houses a number of cafes, restaurants, galleries and shops. It was originally an arm of the Amstel, the Grim (which means "muddy ditch").
