The Maritime Museum, Museu Marítim, is located at the end of the Ramblas close to the monument to Christopher Columbus in the building "Drassanes Reials de Barcelona", which means "the Royal Shipyards." The Royal shipyards were constructed in 1378, by agreement of King Pere IV, the Consell de Cent (Council of One Hundred) and the Diputació del General (Council of the General).
