Historic Religious Building

CATEDRAL DE TORTOSA

The Cathedral of Santa Maria was started in the year 1347, when Bishop Arnau de Llordat solemnly laid the first stone in the middle of the apse. It is estimated that its construction, as we know it today, lasted 412 years. The interior is bright because of the many stained glass windows and replacing the walls by arches. In the apse there is the altar of the Transfiguration (the fifteenth century), and the altar, the altarpiece of Santa Maria.
